COMING SOON TO A VENUE NEAR YOU !!!
With a number of accomplishments already under his belt, twenty-one-year-old Grayson Thurman was born in Kentucky, a state with a long history of contributions to the music industry from Loretta Lynn and The Judds to Dwight Yoakam and Chris Stapleton. Grayson is another Kentuckian on the rise.
Like so many other artists, Grayson’s earliest audiences were often on Sunday mornings when he sang in church. Whether singing a traditional hymn or the latest contemporary worship song, he is at ease singing and playing guitar on his own, with a small band, or a thirty-member orchestra at Christmas. His senior year of high school, he was invited by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association to sing at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky performing an acapella rendition of the National Anthem in front of 10,000 people.
Before graduating high school in 2019, he was offered multiple vocal and academic scholarships to schools, before accepting an offer at famed Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. In the months leading to graduation and moving to Nashville, Grayson participated in a talent competition sponsored by Pigeon Forge, Tennessee’s Department of Tourism. Competing against other musicians from seven state, Grayson was named grand champion leading to performances at multiple theater shows.
During his time at Belmont, Grayson has been a part of multiple groups including the university’s premiere choral ensemble, Chorale. In addition, he was selected not once but twice as part of an 8-member group of students to provide background vocals at the Academy of Country Music Awards – in 2020 for country artist, Kane Brown, and in 2021, for country artist, Mickey Guyton.
Grayson credits a range of artists as heavy influences in his own musical taste. An avid vinyl collector, his prized collection includes rock artists from the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and U2; blues and soul from Robert Johnson to Motown artist like Marvin Gaye and the Temptations; country icons like Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard, to legends like Gram Parsons, The Flying Burrito Brothers, and more.
He is busy writing songs, adding to his set lists, and gearing up to begin storming the Nashville music scene. Grayson Thurman is a rising, young artist worthy of watching as he begins performing on stages around Music City and brings today’s audiences a taste of rock and soul influenced country with a nod to the classics.
Stay tuned!
